Darmera

Part of the appeal of Darmera is the surprise of seeing its thick hairy stems appear from the ground before the leaves. With round flat heads of soft pink flowers they look for all the world like cut flowers stuck into the ground. As a bonus, when the leaves do push through they are large and rounded and form imposing clumps that look wonderful as they take on autumn tones at the end of the year. They need moist, boggy conditions.
