A majestic plant that needs a large garden to be fully appreciated. The mound of large rounded leaves are topped in summer by a cloud of tiny white stars. Watch out for caterpillars, who seem to come from miles around to dine on the leaves. 2m

Not the tastiest vegetable, but certainly one of the most attractive. This variety has curly, twisted glaucous green leaves with dense racemes of tiny white flowers. Needs a well-drained soil and plenty of sun.
