Begonia

Large olive-red leaves that are deep-maroon underneath and sprays of pale pink flowers 30cm tall. The plant doesn't start appearing from the ground until May and starts flowering at the end of August.

A cultivar with dark pink flowers.

A taller cultivar, getting up to about 80cm, with very dark red colouring on the undersides of the leaves and on the leaf-stems.

Like Begonia grandis with very pale pink, almost white flowers.

Not hardy but worth finding a place in the greenhouse to overwinter. Orange flowers and soft apple-green foliage that grows well in dry shade.
